1. Agreement to these Terms

These Terms of Service govern your use of Beyond Borders.

By creating an account or using Beyond Borders, you agree to these Terms.

If you do not agree to these Terms, you should not create an account or use the service.

2. About Beyond Borders

Beyond Borders is a mentoring and community platform that may allow users to:

  • Create profiles
  • Connect with mentors and mentees
  • Communicate privately
  • Request and manage mentorship
  • Participate in mentoring sessions
  • Discover and participate in events
  • Participate in communities
  • Interact with AI mentors
  • Receive certificates and recognition for platform contributions

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use Beyond Borders.

By creating an account, you confirm that you meet this age requirement.

4. Accounts and authentication

Beyond Borders uses Microsoft Entra ID for authentication.

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for activity performed through your account.

You must provide accurate information and must not impersonate another person.

5. Current pricing

Beyond Borders is initially provided free of charge.

Paid features, subscriptions or other premium functionality may be introduced later.

If paid features are introduced, the applicable pricing, payment conditions and any relevant additional terms will be shown before a user makes a purchase.

Existing users will not be charged merely because paid features are introduced.

6. Human mentors

Human mentors are users of the platform unless expressly stated otherwise.

Beyond Borders does not guarantee:

  • Mentor availability
  • Response times
  • Compatibility between mentors and mentees
  • Professional outcomes
  • Employment outcomes
  • Educational outcomes
  • Immigration outcomes
  • Financial outcomes

Mentors are responsible for presenting their background, experience and skills accurately.

7. AI mentors

Beyond Borders may provide clearly identified AI mentors powered by Microsoft Azure / Microsoft Foundry AI services.

AI mentors are not human.

AI-generated responses may contain errors or incomplete information.

AI mentors do not provide guaranteed professional medical, legal, financial, tax, immigration or other regulated advice.

Users should verify important information through qualified professionals or appropriate official sources.

8. Private messages

Beyond Borders may allow private messaging between users.

Users are responsible for the content they send.

You must not use private messaging to:

  • Harass or threaten others
  • Send spam
  • Commit fraud
  • Distribute malware
  • Request or share unlawful material
  • Misuse another user’s personal information

9. User conduct

You must not use Beyond Borders to:

  • Harass, abuse or threaten other users
  • Discriminate unlawfully
  • Impersonate another person
  • Create misleading profiles
  • Deliberately publish false or fraudulent information
  • Attempt unauthorised access to accounts or systems
  • Interfere with the operation of the service
  • Distribute malicious software
  • Scrape or extract platform data without authorisation
  • Spam users
  • Engage in fraud
  • Publish unlawful material
  • Infringe intellectual property rights
  • Violate another person’s privacy
  • Misuse AI functionality for unlawful or harmful purposes

10. Events

Beyond Borders may allow users to discover or participate in events.

Event information may be provided by Beyond Borders or other users.

Dates, times, speakers, locations and other event details may change.

Beyond Borders does not guarantee that every event will take place exactly as originally described.

11. Event notifications

Beyond Borders may send information relating to:

  • Events a user has registered for
  • Event reminders
  • Schedule changes
  • Relevant Beyond Borders events

These communications are intended to support use of the platform.

General commercial marketing is not currently part of the service.

12. Mentor certificates and recognition

Beyond Borders may issue certificates and achievements based on activity recorded within the platform.

These may include information such as:

  • Mentoring hours
  • Number of mentees supported
  • Completed sessions
  • Event participation
  • Helpful community contributions
  • Ratings and feedback

Certificates may include a unique identifier and may be publicly verifiable.

A Beyond Borders certificate represents activity recorded by the platform. It does not necessarily constitute professional accreditation, licensing or formal certification of professional competence.

Beyond Borders may correct, revoke or invalidate certificates where they were issued based on inaccurate, manipulated or fraudulent information.

13. Ratings and feedback

Users may be able to provide ratings or feedback regarding mentors, sessions, events or other platform experiences.

Feedback should be truthful and based on genuine interactions.

Beyond Borders may remove feedback that is:

  • Abusive
  • Fraudulent
  • Discriminatory
  • Irrelevant
  • Otherwise inappropriate

14. User content

Users remain responsible for content they submit to Beyond Borders.

You retain ownership of your original content.

By submitting content that is intended to be displayed or shared through the platform, you grant Beyond Borders the limited rights necessary to:

  • Store the content
  • Display it
  • Transmit it
  • Process it
  • Operate the relevant platform feature

Private messages are not made public merely because Beyond Borders stores them.

15. Account suspension and termination

Beyond Borders may restrict, suspend or terminate an account where reasonably necessary, including where a user:

  • Seriously or repeatedly violates these Terms
  • Engages in fraud
  • Abuses other users
  • Creates security risks
  • Engages in unlawful conduct
  • Misuses personal data
  • Attempts to interfere with the service

Where appropriate, users may be informed of the reason for suspension or termination.

16. Account deletion

Users may delete their account through the Beyond Borders application.

Deleting an account may affect access to:

  • Private messages
  • Mentorship history
  • Event history
  • Certificates
  • Profile information
  • Other platform features

Some information may remain where retention is legally required or otherwise permitted.

17. Service availability

Beyond Borders aims to provide a reliable service, but uninterrupted availability is not guaranteed.

The service may occasionally be unavailable due to:

  • Maintenance
  • Technical problems
  • Third-party service interruptions
  • Security incidents
  • Infrastructure changes
  • Feature updates

18. Intellectual property

Beyond Borders branding, logos, application design, software and original platform content are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.

These Terms do not transfer ownership of Beyond Borders intellectual property to users.

19. Third-party services

Beyond Borders relies on third-party services, including Microsoft services used for:

  • Authentication
  • Cloud hosting
  • Databases
  • AI functionality
  • Application monitoring

Third-party services may operate under their own terms and privacy policies.

Beyond Borders is not responsible for services outside its reasonable control except where required by applicable law.

20. No guarantee of outcomes

Beyond Borders facilitates communication, mentoring, information and community interaction.

Beyond Borders does not guarantee that:

  • Every mentor will be suitable for every mentee
  • All information provided by users is accurate
  • AI-generated content is always correct
  • Participation will lead to employment
  • Participation will lead to educational opportunities
  • Participation will result in a particular personal or professional outcome

21. Liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, Beyond Borders is not responsible for indirect or unforeseeable losses arising from use of the service.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful.

22. Changes to Beyond Borders

Beyond Borders may add, change or remove features as the service develops.

Where a change materially affects users’ rights or obligations, appropriate notice may be provided.

23. Changes to these Terms

These Terms may be updated from time to time.

If a material change is made, existing users may be asked to review and accept the updated Terms before continuing to use Beyond Borders.

The current version will remain accessible inside the application and may also be published at beyondborders.dk.

24. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Denmark, subject to any mandatory consumer rights that apply.
